Founder Story: The Journey to Eano Pro

I grew up around construction. Both of my parents worked in the trades, and I spent my summers watching crews pour concrete, frame houses, and solve problems in real time. Construction was never abstract to me—it was the backdrop of my childhood.

That familiarity turned into frustration in 2017, when I remodeled my own home. Even with good professionals involved, the process felt fragmented, expensive, and harder than it needed to be. Information lived in texts, emails, photos, and memories. Accountability was blurry. Progress was hard to see.

I launched a management consulting service that helped homeowners navigate renovations by pairing them with the right design firms and construction companies in 2018.

The Early Eano Chapter

In 2018, I started Eano as a management consulting business to bring structure and transparency to residential construction. We helped homeowners navigate renovations by pairing them with vetted design firms and contractors, while we handled coordination, communication, and oversight.

Demand came fast.

Over the next few years, Eano scaled into a high-volume operation:

  • $1M+ per year spent on Google, Facebook, and Yelp and so many other channels to find customers
  • 20,000+ homeowners signed up, thousands of meetings
  • Managing 250+ projects per year (including 100+ ADUs)
  • $30M+ in construction contracts managed in 2023
  • $15M raised in venture capital
  • Partnered with 100s+ general contractors across California, Seattle, New York, Hawaii

At peak, we were coordinating far more projects than a traditional general contractor would ever attempt. Most contractors stay healthy managing a handful of jobs at once. We were operating at a different altitude.

That growth validated the market—but it also taught us something important:
in construction, complexity compounds faster than revenue.

Protecting quality, communication, and reputation at scale became exponentially harder. A single delayed update could snowball into frustration. A missing photo could turn into a dispute. One small issue—like a few pieces of grout popping loose years later—could result in not one, but two one-star reviews.

That’s when I learned:

Building fifty five-star experiences in a year is not five times harder than building ten—it’s an entirely different game.

The Systems Became the Product

Behind the scenes, pressure forced innovation.

Rather than just hiring more people, we built internal software to:

  • Standardize estimates and contracts
  • Track vendor workload and availability
  • Log photos, decisions, and change orders
  • Keep clients, designers, and contractors aligned in one place

These tools weren’t aspirational. They were survival tools.

At one point, a single project manager—using our internal system—could oversee 30 active projects. Without it, even five would have been chaos.

Slowly, it became obvious:the real leverage wasn’t in managing projects—it was in the software that made management possible.

The Pivot: From Services to Software

From 2022 into early 2023, external conditions tightened quickly. Interest rates rose sharply. Housing activity slowed. Customer acquisition costs climbed.

But the bigger realization had already set in:

Service businesses scale linearly with people.

Software scales by removing friction.

After managing well over a thousand projects, I made a deliberate decision to shift focus. Running hundreds of projects a year wasn’t sustainable—not for the team, and not long-term.

So we transitioned Eano into what it had quietly been becoming all along–a software company.

Everything we had learned, be it the hard way, went into Eano Pro.

Lessons You Don’t Learn From a Whiteboard

You Can’t Fight Human Nature

We once had a designer juggling far too many projects. He was great—until he wasn’t. One day, he walked and told us a new client would pay triple.

Could we have fought it legally? Maybe.

Was it worth stopping projects to “win”? Absolutely not.

That’s when we set a rule: no vendor could take on more than five projects at once through us. Not as control—but as protection. Eano Pro now makes vendor capacity visible by design, because burnout isn’t a moral failure—it’s a math problem.

Photos End Arguments Faster Than Relationships

A close friend once accused a contractor on his historic home of damaging a window frame—nearly a $4,000 fix. The contractor swore it wasn’t them.

One photo—taken days earlier—showed the piece missing before work began.

Conversation over.

That day I learned something uncomfortable but true:

Photos are stronger than trust in construction.

That’s why photo capture and activity logs are built directly into Eano Pro. They protect everyone, especially when stakes are high.

Compliance Is Never “Later”

At one point, rapid growth exposed us to a painful compliance issue related to subcontractor documentation. Resolving it required months of audits, appeals, and more paperwork than I care to remember.

It was one of those moments where you stare at a bank balance and briefly stop breathing.

We survived—but the lesson stuck.

Eano Pro now tracks subcontractor compliance automatically, because “we’ll fix it later” is not a strategy.

Built From the Jobsite Up

Eano Pro wasn’t designed in a vacuum or built on assumptions.

It was forged through:

  • Real deadlines
  • Real disputes
  • Real money lost and saved
  • Real jobs rescued by better documentation
  • Real teams pushed to their limits

Most construction software tries to guess what contractors need.

We didn’t guess.

We lived it.

Eano Pro exists so contractors can operate with clarity instead of chaos—and scale without burning out their teams or their reputation.

This is the story behind Eano Pro.

And we’re just getting started.

Let's build a better future for the construction industry, together.
